Michael, our Finance Director at Volanteus, recently returned to Imberhorne School to take part in a Year 9 Careers Event, continuing his support of initiatives that help students explore future career options.
During the session, students were invited to guess what Michael does for a living, which led to some creative and entertaining answers including pilot and wing designer! Michael then spoke about his role, how his career developed, and what led him into finance & aviation. The students were engaged, curious, and asked thoughtful questions throughout the session, making the experience enjoyable and rewarding.
This was actually not Michael’s first time attending a careers event at Imberhorne, and returning once again was particularly meaningful as it is the school he attended himself. Walking through familiar corridors and seeing some recognisable faces brought back fond memories and highlighted how valuable it is to come back and share real-life experiences with the next generation.
Michael also encouraged students to keep an open mind when thinking about their futures, sharing that career paths are rarely straightforward and often evolve over time through learning, opportunity and experience.
